Despite a disappointment, a good price for Carol Summers
When the work Night & Day by Carol Summers was auctioned at Christies in New York in October 2001, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 900.00 – 1,200.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 352.50 (€ 391.97). Despite this disappointing result, Night & Day is the most expensive artwork by Carol Summers that we have observed at auction so far.
