Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Meninos Brincando by Cândido Portinari was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 35,000.00 – 45,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 32,500.00 (€ 29,187.25). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Cândido Portinari achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Meninos soltando pipas in May 2013 with an auction result of USD 1,443,750.00 (€ 1,111,603.02).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Meninos Brincando von Cândido Portinari im Mai 2016 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 35.000,00 – 45.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 32.500,00 (€ 29.187,25) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Cândido Portinari erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Meninos soltando pipas im Mai 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.443.750,00 (€ 1.111.603,02).
