The work Fumo (Final Study For The Mural Tobacco At Palácio Gustavo Capanema, Rio De Janeiro) by Cândido Portinari was sold in the Latin American Art auction at Sothebys in New York in November 2012. It achieved a price of USD 374,500.00 (€ 287,855.50), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 25%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Cândido Portinari - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Meninos soltando pipas, which sold at auction in May 2013 for USD 1,443,750.00 (€ 1,111,603.02).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Fumo (Final Study For The Mural Tobacco At Palácio Gustavo Capanema, Rio De Janeiro) von Cândido Portinari wurde im November 2012 in der Auktion Latin American Art bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 374.500,00 (€ 287.855,50) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 25%. Für andere Arbeiten von Cândido Portinari mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Meninos soltando pipas beobachtet, die im Mai 2013 für USD 1.443.750,00 (€ 1.111.603,02) versteigert wurde.
