Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Francis Bacon In The Doorway Of His Studio, 1984 by Bruce Bernard was sold in the Made in Britain auction at Sothebys in London in September 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,500.00 – 3,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,750.00 (€ 3,103.05) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Bruce Bernard have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work (i) Lucian Freud posing as a Henry Moore, 1983; (ii) Leigh Bowery and Nicola Bateman posing for 'And The Husband (1)', 1993; (iii) Lucian Freud standing with portrait of Leigh Bowery, 1990; (iv) Leigh Bowery posing for Lucian Freud's 'Leigh under th in October 2002 with an auction result of GBP 18,522.50 (€ 29,299.3
