Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Make up (as you go along) by Bharti Kher was auctioned at Phillips in London in October this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 60,000.00 – 80,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 57,150.00 (€ 65,624.08). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Bharti Kher achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Skin Speaks A Language Not Its Own in May 2013 with an auction result of USD 1,785,000.00 (€ 1,374,345.55).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Make up (as you go along) von Bharti Kher im Oktober diesen Jahres bei Phillips in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 60.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 57.150,00 (€ 65.624,08) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Bharti Kher erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Skin Speaks A Language Not Its Own im Mai 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.785.000,00 (€ 1.374.345,55).
