Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2018 Christies in New York held the auction Old Masters Part II, which included the work Theirs Is The Kingdom Of Heaven by Benjamin West. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 87,500.00 (€ 72,469.77) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Benjamin West have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of Prince William (1776-1834), Later 2Nd Duke Of Gloucester And Edinburgh, And His Elder Sister, Princess Sophia (1773-1844) Of Gloucester in July 2013 with an auction result of GBP 578,500.00 (€ 661,037.08).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im April 2018 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Old Masters Part II durch, in der auch die Arbeit Theirs Is The Kingdom Of Heaven von Benjamin West zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 80.000,00 – 120.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 87.500,00 (€ 72.469,77) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Benjamin West auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait Of Prince William (1776-1834), Later 2Nd Duke Of Gloucester And Edinburgh, And His Elder Sister, Princess Sophia (1773-1844) Of Gloucester im Juli 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 578.500,00 (€ 661.037,08).
