Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work The Recovery of His Majesty in the Year 1789 by Benjamin West was sold in the Old Masters Evening Sale auction at Sothebys in London in December 2021. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 200,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 201,600.00 (€ 240,466.51). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Benjamin West - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait Of Prince William (1776-1834), Later 2Nd Duke Of Gloucester And Edinburgh, And His Elder Sister, Princess Sophia (1773-1844) Of Gloucester, which sold at auction in July 2013 for GBP 578,500.00 (€ 661,037.08).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit The Recovery of His Majesty in the Year 1789 von Benjamin West wurde im Dezember 2021 in der Auktion Old Masters Evening Sale bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 200.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 201.600,00 (€ 240.466,51) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Benjamin West mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait Of Prince William (1776-1834), Later 2Nd Duke Of Gloucester And Edinburgh, And His Elder Sister, Princess Sophia (1773-1844) Of Gloucester beobachtet, die im Juli 2013 für GBP 578.500,00 (€ 661.037,08) versteigert wurde.
