Sold at the lower estimate price
In January 2020 Christies in New York held the auction Old Master & British Drawings Including Works from the Collection of Jean Bonna, which included the work Portrait of Master Meyer by Benjamin West. The result of USD 10,000.00 (€ 9,014.69) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Benjamin West achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Prince William (1776-1834), Later 2Nd Duke Of Gloucester And Edinburgh, And His Elder Sister, Princess Sophia (1773-1844) Of Gloucester in July 2013 with an auction result of GBP 578,500.00 (€ 661,037.08).
