In January 2020 Christies in New York held the auction Old Master & British Drawings Including Works from the Collection of Jean Bonna, which included the work Portrait study of a young man, seated at a desk by Benjamin West. The »bidding war« ended at USD 3,000.00 (€ 2,704.41), 50% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Benjamin West achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Prince William (1776-1834), Later 2Nd Duke Of Gloucester And Edinburgh, And His Elder Sister, Princess Sophia (1773-1844) Of Gloucester in July 2013 with an auction result of GBP 578,500.00 (€ 661,037.08).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 50 % übertroffen
Im Januar 2020 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Old Master & British Drawings Including Works from the Collection of Jean Bonna durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait study of a young man, seated at a desk von Benjamin West zur Versteigerung kam.
