Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Death Of Dido, With Aeneas' Departing Ships In The Background by Benjamin West was sold in the Old Master and British Drawings auction at Christies in New York in January 2016. It changed hands for a price of USD 6,875.00 (€ 6,346.94) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Benjamin West achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Prince William (1776-1834), Later 2Nd Duke Of Gloucester And Edinburgh, And His Elder Sister, Princess Sophia (1773-1844) Of Gloucester in July 2013 with an auction result of GBP 578,500.00 (€ 661,037.08).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit The Death Of Dido, With Aeneas' Departing Ships In The Background von Benjamin West wurde im Januar 2016 in der Auktion Old Master and British Drawings bei Christies in New York versteigert.
