Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2013 Christies in London held the auction Old Master & British Drawings & Watercolours, which included the work Taste (from the series 'The Five Senses') by Benjamin West. The price achieved of GBP 17,500.00 (€ 19,996.80) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Benjamin West achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Prince William (1776-1834), Later 2Nd Duke Of Gloucester And Edinburgh, And His Elder Sister, Princess Sophia (1773-1844) Of Gloucester in July 2013 with an auction result of GBP 578,500.00 (€ 661,037.08).

Im Juli 2013 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master & British Drawings & Watercolours durch, in der auch die Arbeit Taste (from the series 'The Five Senses') von Benjamin West zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 17.500,00 (€ 19.996,80) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Benjamin West erzielen.
