This artwork by Beauford Delaney achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in New York in December 2020. In the 20th c. and Contemporary Art Day Sale - Morning Session auction, the work Street Scene sold for USD 478,800.00 (€ 391,496.32) - well above the upper estimate of USD 180,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Beauford Delaney - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work James Baldwin, which sold at auction in October last year for GBP 1,026,000.00 (€ 1,195,278.64).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Beauford Delaney erzielte im Dezember 2020 bei Phillips in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 20th c. and Contemporary Art Day Sale - Morning Session wurde die Arbeit Street Scene für USD 478.800,00 (€ 391.496,32) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 180.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Beauford Delaney mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit James Baldwin beobachtet, die im Oktober letzten Jahres für GBP 1.026.000,00 (€ 1.195.278,64) versteigert wurde.
