The work Composition Bleu by Beauford Delaney was sold in the A Century of Art: The Gerald Fineberg Collection Part I auction at Christies in New York in May this year. It achieved a price of USD 781,200.00 (€ 733,245.73), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 56%. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Beauford Delaney; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot James Baldwin sold at auction in October last year with the realized price of GBP 1,026,000.00 (€ 1,195,278.64).

Die Arbeit Composition Bleu von Beauford Delaney wurde im Mai diesen Jahres in der Auktion A Century of Art: The Gerald Fineberg Collection Part I bei Christies in New York versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 781.200,00 (€ 733.245,73) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 56%. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Beauford Delaney; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit James Baldwin im Oktober letzten Jahres mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 1.026.000,00 (€ 1.195.278,64).
