Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Moses rescued from the Nile (Bartsch 2) by Bartolomeo Biscaino was sold in the Old Master & Decorative, Modern & Contemporary Prints auction at Christies in London in December 2010. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,125.00 (€ 1,305.00) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Bartolomeo Biscaino achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Volumnia with her sons before Coriolanus, the Castel Sant'Angelo beyond in July 2005 with an auction result of GBP 84,000.00 (€ 121,841.21).
