Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In December 2013 Christies in London held the auction 500 Years of Printmaking, which included the work The Virgin Nursing The Infant Christ (Bartsch 21) by Bartolomeo Biscaino. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 800.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 875.00 (€ 1,052.49). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Bartolomeo Biscaino achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Volumnia with her sons before Coriolanus, the Castel Sant'Angelo beyond in July 2005 with an auction result of GBP 84,000.00 (€ 121,841.21).
