etching, circa 1655, on laid paper with Three Crescents watermark, a fairly good impression of the sixth state (of eight), a rare print, trimmed to the borderline, a 12 mm. stain at the Virgin's knee, with the usual horizontal central fold, otherwise in good condition; together with, Guido Reni (1575-1642), Holy Family with two Angels (B. 10), etching, circa 1660-04, on laid paper without watermark, a good but slightly later impression, trimmed to or on the platemark, in good condition

Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Nativity With Angels (Bartsch 7) by Bartolomeo Biscaino was sold in the 500 Years of Printmaking auction at Christies in London in December 2013. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,625.00 (€ 1,954.62) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Bartolomeo Biscaino achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Volumnia with her sons before Coriolanus, the Castel Sant'Angelo beyond in July 2005 with an auction result of GBP 84,000.00 (€ 121,841.21).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit The Nativity With Angels (Bartsch 7) von Bartolomeo Biscaino wurde im Dezember 2013 in der Auktion 500 Years of Printmaking bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.500,00 – 2.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 1.625,00 (€ 1.954,62) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Bartolomeo Biscaino erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Volumnia with her sons before Coriolanus, the Castel Sant'Angelo beyond im Juli 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 84.000,00 (€ 121.841,21).
