In November last year Christies in New York held the auction 20th Century Evening Sale, which included the work Single Form by Barbara Hepworth. The »bidding war« ended at USD 2,700,000.00 (€ 2,615,518.74), 50% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Barbara Hepworth have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Family of Man: Ancestor II in November this year with an auction result of USD 11,565,000.00 (€ 10,602,310.23).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 50 % übertroffen
Im November letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion 20th Century Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Single Form von Barbara Hepworth zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 2.700.000,00 (€ 2.615.518,74) und damit 50% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Barbara Hepworth auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Family of Man: Ancestor II im November diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 11.565.000,00 (€ 10.602.310,23).
