Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Baldur Helgason achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in May last year. In the 21st Century Art Day Sale auction, the work In the Garden sold for HKD 478,800.00 (€ 56,843.84) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 200,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Baldur Helgason; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Man Interrupted by an Ostrich in the Pink Room sold at auction in March last year with the realized price of HKD 756,000.00 (€ 87,028.94).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Baldur Helgason erzielte im Mai letzten Jahres bei Christies in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 21st Century Art Day Sale wurde die Arbeit In the Garden für HKD 478.800,00 (€ 56.843,84) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 200.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Baldur Helgason; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Man Interrupted by an Ostrich in the Pink Room im März letzten Jahres mit dem Hammerpreis von HKD 756.000,00 (€ 87.028,94).
