Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Badri Narayan achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in Hong Kong in June this year. In the Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art auction, the work Untitled (Parvati With Child, Surrounded By Yalis And Deities) sold for GBP 17,920.00 (€ 20,855.79) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 7,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Badri Narayan - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work without title, which sold at auction in September 2008 for USD 74,500.00 (€ 52,908.17).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Badri Narayan erzielte im Juni diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art wurde die Arbeit Untitled (Parvati With Child, Surrounded By Yalis And Deities) für GBP 17.920,00 (€ 20.855,79) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 7.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Badri Narayan mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit ohne Titel beobachtet, die im September 2008 für USD 74.500,00 (€ 52.908,17) versteigert wurde.
