In October 2018 Sothebys in London held the auction Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art, which included the work Dreaming Of The Painted Hamsā by Badri Narayan. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 9,750.00 (€ 10,994.99), 63% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Badri Narayan have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work without title in September 2008 with an auction result of USD 74,500.00 (€ 52,908.17).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 63 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2018 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Dreaming Of The Painted Hamsā von Badri Narayan zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 9.750,00 (€ 10.994,99) und damit 63% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Badri Narayan auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit ohne Titel im September 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 74.500,00 (€ 52.908,17).
