Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Haymaking by Asher Brown Durand was sold in the American Art auction at Christies in New York in November 2018. The price achieved of USD 324,500.00 (€ 286,584.83) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 250,000.00 – 350,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Asher Brown Durand - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Mountain Stream, which sold at auction in May 2017 for USD 967,500.00 (€ 861,071.56).

Die Arbeit Haymaking von Asher Brown Durand wurde im November 2018 in der Auktion American Art bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 324.500,00 (€ 286.584,83) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 250.000,00 – 350.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Asher Brown Durand mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Mountain Stream beobachtet, die im Mai 2017 für USD 967.500,00 (€ 861.071,56) versteigert wurde.
