Artwork auctioned at five times the upper estimate price
When the work Cyclist and Trumpeters by Arturo Luz was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in November 2017, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 400,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than five times as high at HKD 2,250,000.00 (€ 242,246.60). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Arturo Luz; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Candle Vendors sold at auction in November 2013 with the realized price of HKD 2,920,000.00 (€ 276,848.45).
Kunstwerk zum Fünffachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Cyclist and Trumpeters von Arturo Luz im November 2017 bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 400.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 2.250.000,00 (€ 242.246,60) mehr als fünfmal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Arturo Luz; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Candle Vendors im November 2013 mit dem Hammerpreis von HKD 2.920.000,00 (€ 276.848,45).
