Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Arthur Wesley Dow could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in October 2013 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Photographs auction, the work 'Chinese Fishing Village, Near Monterey' changed hands for USD 7,500.00 (€ 5,517.14) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Arthur Wesley Dow - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Moon Over The Hill, which sold at auction in October 2014 for USD 23,750.00 (€ 18,954.51).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Arthur Wesley Dow konnte im Oktober 2013 bei Sothebys in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Photographs wechselte die Arbeit 'Chinese Fishing Village, Near Monterey' für USD 7.500,00 (€ 5.517,14) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Arthur Wesley Dow mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Moon Over The Hill beobachtet, die im Oktober 2014 für USD 23.750,00 (€ 18.954,51) versteigert wurde.
