Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Arthur Rothstein could be acquired at Christies in New York in April 2011 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Crossing America: Photographs from the Consolidated Freightways Collection, Part I auction, the work Vernon Evans, Migrant from South Dakota to Oregon, 1936 changed hands for USD 1,375.00 (€ 927.74) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Arthur Rothstein achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Farmer and sons walking in the face of a dust storm, Cimarron County, Oklahoma in April 2001 with an auction result of USD 23,500.00 (€ 26,481.86).
