Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work 'Dust Storm, Cimarron County, Oklahoma' by Arthur Rothstein was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in April 2013, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 16,250.00 (€ 12,340.52). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Arthur Rothstein - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Farmer and sons walking in the face of a dust storm, Cimarron County, Oklahoma, which sold at auction in April 2001 for USD 23,500.00 (€ 26,481.86).
