This artwork by Arthur Hughes achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in December 2014. In the British & Irish Art auction, the work Study For Sir Galahad - The Quest For The Holy Grail sold for GBP 22,500.00 (€ 28,964.96) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Arthur Hughes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Birthday Picnic - Portraits of the children of William and Anne Pattinson of Felling, near Gateshead in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 380,650.00 (€ 555,736.99).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 88 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Arthur Hughes erzielte im Dezember 2014 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion British & Irish Art wurde die Arbeit Study For Sir Galahad - The Quest For The Holy Grail für GBP 22.500,00 (€ 28.964,96) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 12.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Arthur Hughes erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Birthday Picnic - Portraits of the children of William and Anne Pattinson of Felling, near Gateshead im Februar 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 380.650,00 (€ 555.736,99).
