This artwork by Arthur Hughes achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in July last year. In the British and European Art auction, the work Gurnard's Head, from St Ives side sold for GBP 22,680.00 (€ 27,083.95) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Arthur Hughes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Birthday Picnic - Portraits of the children of William and Anne Pattinson of Felling, near Gateshead in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 380,650.00 (€ 555,736.99).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Arthur Hughes erzielte im Juli letzten Jahres bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion British and European Art wurde die Arbeit Gurnard's Head, from St Ives side für GBP 22.680,00 (€ 27.083,95) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 12.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Arthur Hughes erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Birthday Picnic - Portraits of the children of William and Anne Pattinson of Felling, near Gateshead im Februar 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 380.650,00 (€ 555.736,99).
