In December 2010 Christies in London held the auction Victorian & British Impressionist Pictures Including Drawings and Watercolours, which included the work A Passing Cloud 'O how this spring of love resembleth The uncertain glory of an April day Which now shows all the beauty of the sun And by and by a cloud takes all away' Shakespeare, The Two Gentlemen of Verona by Arthur Hughes. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 103,250.00 (€ 119,769.69), 48% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Arthur Hughes have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Birthday Picnic - Portraits of the children of William and Anne Pattinson of Felling, near Gateshead in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 380,650.00 (€ 555,736.99).

Im Dezember 2010 führte Christies in London die Auktion Victorian & British Impressionist Pictures Including Drawings and Watercolours durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Passing Cloud 'O how this spring of love resembleth The uncertain glory of an April day Which now shows all the beauty of the sun And by and by a cloud takes all away' Shakespeare, The Two Gentlemen of Verona von Arthur Hughes zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 103.250,00 (€ 119.769,69) und damit 48% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Arthur Hughes auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Birthday Picnic - Portraits of the children of William and Anne Pattinson of Felling, near Gateshead im Februar 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 380.650,00 (€ 555.736,99).
