Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Anthony Hill could be acquired at Sothebys in London in November 2010 for an unexpectedly low price. In the The Robert Devereux Collection of Post-War British Art in aid of the African Arts Trust, Sale 1 auction, the work Black Polygons - 1954-55 changed hands for GBP 16,250.00 (€ 19,418.73) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Anthony Hill - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Relief Construction, August - September 1959, which sold at auction in November 2018 for GBP 50,000.00 (€ 56,398.48).
