Engraving, circa 1460 (?), second (final) state, a very good, early impression, trimmed within subject all around, upper corners made up, a vertical 5cm repaired tear touched-in with pen and ink at centre of upper edge, a central vertical fold and minor horizontal creases at upper part of image (mainly visible verso), a few other lesser defects and restorations

Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work The Entombment (Bartsch 3; Hind 2, Washington Cat. 70) by Andrea Mantegna was auctioned at Sothebys in London in September 2007. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 6,875.00 (€ 9,858.24). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Andrea Mantegna achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Triumph Of Alexandria in January 2020 with an auction result of USD 11,654,000.00 (€ 10,505,724.33).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit The Entombment (Bartsch 3; Hind 2, Washington Cat. 70) von Andrea Mantegna kam im September 2007 bei Sothebys in London zur Auktion. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 6.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 6.875,00 (€ 9.858,24) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Andrea Mantegna erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Triumph Of Alexandria im Januar 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 11.654.000,00 (€ 10.505.724,33).
