Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2010 Christies in London held the auction Old Master, 19th Century & British Drawings & Watercolours, which included the work Cupid and Hymen accompanied by amorini by Andrea Appiani. The price achieved of GBP 1,250.00 (€ 1,450.00) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Andrea Appiani achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821), as First Consul, three-quarter-length, holding a sabre in June 2004 with an auction result of USD 769,100.00 (€ 631,496.84).
