Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Fireplace by Alison Watt was auctioned at Christies in London in March 2005. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,160.00 (€ 3,145.82) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alison Watt achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sleeper; Fragment Ii in July 2007 with an auction result of GBP 78,000.00 (€ 115,848.01).

Die Arbeit The Fireplace von Alison Watt kam im März 2005 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 2.160,00 (€ 3.145,82) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Alison Watt erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Sleeper; Fragment Ii im Juli 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 78.000,00 (€ 115.848,01).
