This artwork by Alice Neel achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in March last year. In the Contemporary Edition auction, the work Man in Harness sold for USD 5,292.00 (€ 4,770.58) - well above the upper estimate of USD 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alice Neel achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Dr. Finger’S Waiting Room in May 2021 with an auction result of USD 3,030,000.00 (€ 2,484,828.60).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 76 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Alice Neel erzielte im März letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Contemporary Edition wurde die Arbeit Man in Harness für USD 5.292,00 (€ 4.770,58) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 3.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Alice Neel erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Dr. Finger’S Waiting Room im Mai 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 3.030.000,00 (€ 2.484.828,60).
