This artwork by Alice Neel achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in November 2021. In the Contemporary Day Auction auction, the work Cows, Vermont sold for USD 528,200.00 (€ 467,972.00) - well above the upper estimate of USD 300,000.00. Admittedly, works by Alice Neel have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Dr. Finger’S Waiting Room in May 2021 with an auction result of USD 3,030,000.00 (€ 2,484,828.60).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 76 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Alice Neel erzielte im November 2021 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Contemporary Day Auction wurde die Arbeit Cows, Vermont für USD 528.200,00 (€ 467.972,00) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 300.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Alice Neel auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Dr. Finger’S Waiting Room im Mai 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 3.030.000,00 (€ 2.484.828,60).
