Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Santa Maria Della Salute Viewed From The Grand Canal, Venice; And The Grand Canal, Venice by Alfred Pollentine was sold in the Victorian, British and Impressionist Art auction at Christies in London in June 2013. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,250.00 (€ 3,793.33) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Alfred Pollentine - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Santa Maria della Salute; and The Doge's Palace, Venice, which sold at auction in June 2000 for GBP 8,812.50 (€ 13,968.90).
