Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Rotterdam by Alfred Montague was auctioned at Christies in London in March 2001, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,762.50 (€ 2,843.97). Other works by Alfred Montague have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in November 2003 by the work A blustery day in the estuary at GBP 3,760.00 (€ 5,397.54).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Rotterdam von Alfred Montague im März 2001 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 1.762,50 (€ 2.843,97) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Alfred Montague wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im November 2003 die Arbeit A blustery day in the estuary mit GBP 3.760,00 (€ 5.397,54).
