In January 2003 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Pictures and Works on Paper, which included the work A hay barge and other vessels at a riverside town by Alfred Montague. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 940.00 (€ 1,439.72), 34% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Alfred Montague - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A blustery day in the estuary, which sold at auction in November 2003 for GBP 3,760.00 (€ 5,397.54).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 34 % übertroffen
Im Januar 2003 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Continental Pictures and Works on Paper durch, in der auch die Arbeit A hay barge and other vessels at a riverside town von Alfred Montague zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 940,00 (€ 1.439,72) und damit 34% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Alfred Montague mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A blustery day in the estuary beobachtet, die im November 2003 für GBP 3.760,00 (€ 5.397,54) versteigert wurde.
