Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of a young girl with a fan by Alfred Edward Emslie was sold in the British and Continental Watercolours and Drawings auction at Christies in London in October 2002. The price achieved of GBP 1,762.50 (€ 2,787.96) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alfred Edward Emslie achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Bending Sail After A Gale in November 2008 with an auction result of GBP 121,250.00 (€ 146,600.36).

Die Arbeit Portrait of a young girl with a fan von Alfred Edward Emslie wurde im Oktober 2002 in der Auktion British and Continental Watercolours and Drawings bei Christies in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 1.762,50 (€ 2.787,96) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 1.500,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Alfred Edward Emslie erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Bending Sail After A Gale im November 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 121.250,00 (€ 146.600,36).
