oval, 1 9/16 in. (39 mm.) high, silver-gilt frame with black enamel border, the reverse with enamelled inscription 'He that believeth on me though he were dead yet shall he live- Soon - & for ever' and lock of hair on silk ground

Auction result well in line with expectations

The price achieved of GBP 239.00 (€ 343.46) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 200.00 – 300.00. Admittedly, works by Alfred Edward Chalon have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Ballerinas of the last century: "The Three Graces" - Marie Taglioni, Carlotta Grisi and Amalia Ferraris in December 2004 with an auction result of GBP 1,792.50 (€ 2,536.88).
