Auction result well in line with expectations

The price achieved of GBP 478.00 (€ 677.02) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 400.00 – 600.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Alfred Edward Chalon - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Ballerinas of the last century: "The Three Graces" - Marie Taglioni, Carlotta Grisi and Amalia Ferraris, which sold at auction in December 2004 for GBP 1,792.50 (€ 2,536.88).
