Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2008 Christies in London held the auction Important Old Master & British PicturesDay Sale Including Property From The Collection Of The Princely House Of Liechtenstein, which included the work Portrait of a lady, said to be the duchesse de Caumont-Laforce, bust-length, in a plumed hat and silk mantle by Alexis Grimou. The price achieved of GBP 12,500.00 (€ 15,881.39) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Other works by Alexis Grimou have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in July 2019 the work Portrait of a lady, three-quarter-length, in a white dress with blue bows, and a violet mantle, playing a hurdy gurdy, in a wooded landscape was auctioned for GBP 25,062.00 (€ 27,516.41).
