Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of A Gentleman, Half Length, Wearing A Cuirasse, A Hat And A Red Cape by Alexis Grimou was sold in the Old Master Paintings auction at Sothebys in London in November 2007. It changed hands for a price of GBP 6,875.00 (€ 9,626.78) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Alexis Grimou - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of a lady, three-quarter-length, in a white dress with blue bows, and a violet mantle, playing a hurdy gurdy, in a wooded landscape, which sold at auction in July 2019 for GBP 25,062.00 (€ 27,516.41).
