Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Portrait Of A Contemplative Gentleman, Said To Be A Huguenot, Resting His Arm On An Open Book by Alexis Grimou was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in June 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 33,000.00 (€ 24,408.28). Other works by Alexis Grimou have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in July 2019 by the work Portrait of a lady, three-quarter-length, in a white dress with blue bows, and a violet mantle, playing a hurdy gurdy, in a wooded landscape at GBP 25,062.00 (€ 27,516.41).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Portrait Of A Contemplative Gentleman, Said To Be A Huguenot, Resting His Arm On An Open Book von Alexis Grimou im Juni 2007 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus.
