Artwork auctioned at 11 times the upper estimate price
When the work Abstract Composition by Alexander MacKenzie was auctioned at Sothebys in London in November 2016, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 1,200.00 but the actual price achieved was more than 11 times as high at GBP 13,750.00 (€ 16,223.65). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Alexander MacKenzie - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Painting (Gwithian) Aug 57-, which sold at auction in June 2017 for GBP 40,000.00 (€ 45,552.54).
Kunstwerk zum Elffachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Abstract Composition von Alexander MacKenzie im November 2016 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – GBP 1.200,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit GBP 13.750,00 (€ 16.223,65) mehr als elfmal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Alexander MacKenzie mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Painting (Gwithian) Aug 57- beobachtet, die im Juni 2017 für GBP 40.000,00 (€ 45.552,54) versteigert wurde.
