Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2004 Christies in London held the auction British Art on Paper including Victorian Watercolours from, which included the work A castle in a landscape by Alexander Cozens. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,200.00 – 1,800.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,314.50 (€ 1,956.37) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alexander Cozens achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Bay At Dusk in June 2005 with an auction result of GBP 108,000.00 (€ 160,062.82).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juni 2004 führte Christies in London die Auktion British Art on Paper including Victorian Watercolours from durch, in der auch die Arbeit A castle in a landscape von Alexander Cozens zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.200,00 – 1.800,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 1.314,50 (€ 1.956,37) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Alexander Cozens erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Bay At Dusk im Juni 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 108.000,00 (€ 160.062,82).
