Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2018 Sothebys in New York held the auction Prints & Multiples Online, which included the work Six Female Portraits by Alex Katz. The price achieved of USD 1,375.00 (€ 1,200.24) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 1,000.00 – 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alex Katz achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Blue Umbrella I in October 2019 with an auction result of GBP 3,375,000.00 (€ 3,914,757.96).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2018 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Prints & Multiples Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Six Female Portraits von Alex Katz zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 1.375,00 (€ 1.200,24) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 1.000,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Alex Katz erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Blue Umbrella I im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.375.000,00 (€ 3.914.757,96).
