Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Alex Guofeng Cao achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in New York in April 2011. In the Photographs auction, the work Jackie vs. JFK II sold for USD 15,000.00 (€ 10,120.77) - well above the upper estimate of USD 7,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Alex Guofeng Cao; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Warhol Versus Mao, After Mapplethorpe, 2009 sold at auction in October 2012 with the realized price of USD 23,750.00 (€ 18,328.45).
