Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In September 2014 Phillips in New York held the auction Under the Influence, which included the work Elvis vs. Warhol by Alex Guofeng Cao. The »bidding war« ended at USD 9,375.00 (€ 7,423.98), 17% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Alex Guofeng Cao - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Warhol Versus Mao, After Mapplethorpe, 2009, which sold at auction in October 2012 for USD 23,750.00 (€ 18,328.45).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im September 2014 führte Phillips in New York die Auktion Under the Influence durch, in der auch die Arbeit Elvis vs. Warhol von Alex Guofeng Cao zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 9.375,00 (€ 7.423,98) und damit 17% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Alex Guofeng Cao mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Warhol Versus Mao, After Mapplethorpe, 2009 beobachtet, die im Oktober 2012 für USD 23.750,00 (€ 18.328,45) versteigert wurde.
