This artwork by Afrika achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in March this year. In the Modern & Contemporary Art | Bonhams Skinner auction, the work Portrait 22 x 18 in. (55.9 x 45.7 cm) unframed sold for USD 1,402.50 (€ 1,290.01) - well above the upper estimate of USD 800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Afrika achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Malevich! in February 2007 with an auction result of GBP 30,000.00 (€ 44,473.92).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 75 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Afrika erzielte im März diesen Jahres bei Bonhams einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern & Contemporary Art | Bonhams Skinner wurde die Arbeit Portrait 22 x 18 in. (55.9 x 45.7 cm) unframed für USD 1.402,50 (€ 1.290,01) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 800,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Afrika erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Malevich! im Februar 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 30.000,00 (€ 44.473,92).
