A top price for Afrika - as previously expected

The work Malevich! by Afrika was sold in the Modern and Contemporary Russian Art auction at Sothebys in London in February 2007. The auction ended at the price of GBP 30,000.00 (€ 44,473.92), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of GBP 25,000.00 – 30,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Malevich! is the most expensive artwork by Afrika that we have observed at auctions so far.

Die Arbeit Malevich! von Afrika wurde im Februar 2007 in der Auktion Modern and Contemporary Russian Art bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 30.000,00 (€ 44.473,92) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 25.000,00 – 30.000,00. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist Malevich! das teuerste Kunstwerk von Afrika, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
